No, you can't. There are many depths of hypnosis and sometimes some people will go past the “working” state, hypnotic somnambulism, in to a wonderful state of euphoria and possibly even deeper, appearing for all intents and purposes to be unconscious.
Hypnotic unconsciousness is completely different from medical unconsciousness because those people in a really deep state of hypnosis can still hear what is being said and are fully aware of everything going on around them, they simply can't be bothered to move or respond in any way.
It is easy to emerge people from this state but what would happen if I stayed quiet and nipped down the road for a cup of coffee? Would that person be stuck in hypnosis forever?
Now, I'm going to tell you a secret, and this is a very powerful secret, I am going to reveal the absolutely worst possible thing that could happen to someone in a deep state of hypnosis…….they could fall asleep!
So, if someone in a deep state of hypnosis is given the right suggestions to emerge, they will, but if someone is left to their own devices once they are in a deep state of hypnosis one of two things will happen, they will either open their eyes when they are ready to or they will fall asleep and then open their eyes when they are ready to.
Shocking isn't it?
