Monday Motivation – How big is your Ego?

Sometimes our ego can get us in to a lot of trouble. So, what is it's purpose, why is it there? These are questions that mankind has pondered for thousands of years and I could spend hours writing my interpretation of my understanding of the ego, but today let's just accept that it exists in all of us.

Ego – an inflated feeling of pride in your superiority to others.

Let's say that someone has wronged you, big time, although you know that you are not to blame and you could prove it. The person that wronged you has then manipulated others through lies and deceit to have them believe that you are to blame, it's your fault. Now let's say that you see some of the people that are blaming you on a regular basis and this is when the ego rears it's ugly head.

The ego screams “Tell them the truth, you can burst this persons bubble in two minutes, you are right, tell them, make them look a fool, make all of them look like fools, you know you can prove it, go on, tell them the truth!” The ego can never be wrong, it must be proven right.

Beneath the screams of the ego is a wonderful sense of peace that most of us choose not to hear, although it is with every one of us. This inner peace whispers quietly “Let them be, let them live their lives with their beliefs, let the ego wash over you and disappear, send these people love, joy and happiness in your thoughts, you know the truth and that is all that matters. Rest in the peace of letting go of the requirements of the ego.”

There is so much more to gain by letting go of the ego, letting go of the need to be proved right.

This week, maybe even longer if you want to feel even happier, question your thoughts and sense whether your ego is speaking and then sense what it feels like to just let go of the ego and it's usually unnecessary feelings and negative emotional attachments.

Allow yourself to sense that beneath the ego is an incredible level of inner peace that is so much more beneficial and enjoyable.

Would you make them look like fools or just give them a genuine smile and wish them well?

Be happy,

Dave.
