What is it like to "go under"?

I believe there is no such thing as “going under”. If you remember how comfortable it is to be in that snooze state just before you fully awaken in the morning, when you are so comfortable that you just can't be bothered to move but you are aware that you are waking up but are not yet fully awake, then that is what you should experience in a state of hypnosis.

In fact, in a state of hypnosis your senses become more acute and aware of everything that is going on so in reality, you are more aware of what is said and done when you are in a state of hypnosis.

Once your subconscious is aware that you are in charge, and in fact you won't say or do anything you don't want to say or do, you should find yourself drifting much, much deeper.

If you were laying in bed at home and an alarm went off, you would be up and about very quickly. If you are sat in my chair and an alarm went off, you would be up and about very quickly. The only exception to this would be if I gave you suggestions that the alarm was just a test and that you are perfectly safe, and this suggestion was acceptable to you, then you would not be disturbed by it. Also, if an alarm was going off and I was still sat in the office talking to you then your common sense would tell you that all is probably well.

Be happy,

Dave.
