Hypnosis is when the subconscious mind takes on board a suggestion that common sense would usually reject. Advertisers use this theory of hypnosis all the time to market their products, some of it is blatant, some not so blatant.
How does a company market a product that is little more than sugary water when most people would not willingly pay money for little more than sugar and water?
They use hypnotic techniques such as linking action, fitness, social acceptance, coolness and many others to associate their product with a particular lifestyle or benefit or, being truthful, a perceived lifestyle or benefit.
Some adverts are great, some make me cringe. Don’t be fooled by some of the stuff you see on the adverts breaks on TV.
Be happy,
Dave.
